Over 40 students took part in a competitive quiz night hosted by the VAST society at Penrhyn Road Campus on Monday.

VAST is the video games, anime, science fiction and tabletop society on campus, with over 300 members.

The quiz had six categories with ten questions, offering a ranging number of points for teams to move into first place.

“We came up with the idea a few weeks ago and started planning straight away,” Treasurer Gina Annis said.

“It was fun getting prizes together and finding a structure for the quiz.”

Starting at 6PM, the quiz went through until 9PM with questions ranging from general knowledge to video games trivia.

VAST also launched a cosplay competition during the quiz, having members vote for their favourite costume.

“Obviously showcasing VAST’s creativity was key for us,” Annis said.

“Everyone is so into cosplay and the competition element made it much more exciting to observe.”

The quiz ended with a winning team, their points numbering 64, receiving Among Us plush toys.

Jacob Malamatenios ended up on top for the costume competition, winning a Pokémon plush toy and a winners medal.

“I’m glad people thought my costume was good, even if it was cringy,” Malamatenios said.

“VAST is important for people who like creative stuff and that’s why I came in costume, to celebrate that.”
